Outline of JAMAS

Japan Medical Abstracts Society is a non-profit organization (NPO) that collects and provides bibliographic information on Japanese medicine and related fields.
Since its establishment in 1903, the Society has compiled a comprehensive collection of periodicals including domestic academic and commercial journals in medicine and related fields, and has provided medical and healthcare professionals with information. This information was initially delivered in the form of paper media and CD-ROMs but is now being provided in digital media format.
Ichushi-Web, or the internet search service for the Ichushi Database, currently contains approximately 16 million pieces of bibliographic information that have been collected from 1903 as of Apr. 2025.
Ichushi-Web is being used by almost all Japanese medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and nursing universities/colleges, major hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. It is utilized by approximately 20,000 people daily and is considered the de facto standard for medical bibliographic information search services in Japan.
We continue to uphold the mission set by our founder, Shiro Amako, when he establisehd the company: to "provide dedicated researchers with a means of searching for documents and enabling busy clinicians to easily understand medical trends at a glance."
We will continue to contribute to the advancement of medicine and healthcare, responding flexibly to future changes in the information environment.
